Behind the Curtain

50 more Bensons have hit the road this week, traveling to verified monument/sculptures around the globe. Is one near you? Chart them out between # 251 and #300.

How does your garden grow? Hopefully lively! Make sure you’re well supplied for your plants to keep growing. They need hydration!

Summer is heating up! It’s time to grab your buckets and spades and meet us out at the beach! There’s an exciting sand castle competition starting soon that you won’t want to miss!

Mixerpool refills? Always fun! There’s another BIG one coming soon. Keep your eyes peeled for some very low RareBees hitting the pool for some summer fun!

Hello Collectors,

Behind the Curtain

Update 2.2.5 is still incubating at the moment. We hope to have it ready for release soon, but don’t currently have an estimate to share. Thanks for your patience!

We have submitted some of our artwork to NeonMob in hopes of creating a series within their platform. We have been informed that our submissions were accepted and will be available very soon for NeonMob players to begin collecting. WWH2O will be the first series they release, beginning tomorrow, June 30th! If you’re not sure what NeonMob is about, you can learn more about them here.

Check out the Room For Growth section of this post for updated information on some of the pesky issues we’ve been dealing with. One noteworthy bit of information deals with NewBees and their profile bios. New players now begin playing with a default bio, ‘Hi, I’m new to WallaBee. I joined the game on <insert creation date here>.’ Already existing accounts will not have the ability of saving a blank bio in the near future.

Weekly Buzz – 06/22/18

Hello Collectors,

Thanks for all of your support with WallaBee. We love running this game for you and are working on some updates at the moment. We hope to have more information available soon. Until then, let’s talk about some things happening behind the scenes.

Behind the Curtain

Player Uniques. They are very popular in WallaBee, and for good reason. They allow players to express themselves within our game, which is not something many games allow… We love putting forth your content as items within WallaBee, and are currently working through the existing queue of Player Uniques for 2018. As it states on the website and blog, we’re currently not accepting new applications for Player Uniques, but hope to open this up once again near the end of the year. Since Andy is the main artist responsible for 90% of the items in WallaBee, we can only work him to death so much within each month. We appreciate the interest from so many players to create more Player Uniques, but please be patience with us for the time being.

A summer-inspired set is coming within the next few weeks. We hope you’ve got your spades and buckets ready for the *sandcastle competition. *Sandcastles may not resemble castles.

As hinted through social media, we’re planning out a followup to The Aftermath. We know many of you wondered what exactly happened to Goldie, so we’re going to continue the story within the next two months. We hope you’ll enjoy this second installment.

The World Cup is getting intense! How are you doing in the bracket? If you’re not following the action for Wyando’s competition in the forums, we hope you’re still supporting your country’s team (if they’re still there).

Various players have come together to help new players begin lowering their Set Items, and we think that’s awesome! Shoutout to those hosting this BIG GIVEAWAY in the forums. You guys rock!

More Mixerpool craziness coming this weekend! Stay tuned to our social media accounts and @WallaBeeTracker for when new items get added.

This Week In WallaBee History | June 18th – June 24th

June 23rd, 2013: Frangipani released as the first item in WallaBee Wellness Retreat. This was a great set to remind players to take a break from foraging and mixing every now and again… do something nice for yourself and relax.

June 18th, 2014: The last item in Tiki Tourist was released, finishing things up with Tiki Island. This item was also a mini Megamix/Crossmix with the Clown Fish to create Aquatic Initiation… ooh ha ha.

June 22nd, 2014: The first item in You Just Got Served was released, which was of course Tennis Balls. It’s kinda difficult to play tennis without them.

June 20th, 2016: The craziness of Andy’s Inter-dimensional Toymageddon began with an Extraordinary Magic Set. The artwork for this piece features the Carnival Magician from Carnival of Curiosities. He’s sure up to no good.

Weekly Buzz – 06/15/18 (NOW ENDED)

Hello Collectors,

Do you like surprises? We like surprises. There may be delayed surprises waiting to surprise you. Surprise!

Behind the Curtain

It’s been a while since our last sale, so it’s about time we give you the opportunity again. Enjoy discounted Honeycombs, Locks, and Mixerpacks in the online store. This sale will start immediately and last through Monday, 2pm UTC. We’re also going to update the Mixerpool with even more goodies for you to capitalize on, including some difficult-to-obtain Uniques. Stay tuned for these changes a little later today.

Yesterday we asked on social media if you’re an early bird or a night owl. To play WallaBee and get low numbers, you have to be both! However, this staff member is more of a night owl… which makes those early drop-times difficult.

July 14th is Munzee’s 7th Birthday celebration in Texas. We will be issuing a Unique worldwide during this time, with a special variant for those who are able to attend. We will also be continuing the birthday celebration on the 21st in California, so keep an eye out for even more fun during that weekend. Details to follow.

Did you catch the ending of “The Chase” this week? We put together a video to showcase the story in its entirety. Perhaps you’ve already seen it on social media, but here it is again. Enjoy!

June 13th, 2012: The first item in WallaTech was Floppy Discs… if you even remember what these are.

June 16th, 2014: First Aid released as the first item that references DeCoyote. Do you know which other items he’s appeared in? There’s a few of them now…

June 12th, 2015: Chocolate Brownie and WallaBee Wundae released as the last items in Ice Scream, followed only a few short hours afterward by the first item in Primeval ParkThe Incident.

June 16th, 2017: Represent! released as the first item in The Hunt. London may be a big place to walk around, but everything you need to see is just around the corner. This item was created to highlight those in attendance at the 2017 London Birthday event.

Weekly Buzz – 06/01/18

Hello Collectors,

Lots going on in WallaVille. We know you have lots going on, so we’ll try and make this brief. Enjoy!

Behind the Curtain

We’ve made some optimizations to various areas of the app’s backend code, which should speed up various aspects of the app. Due to the higher amount of in-game activity within the past few days, players may experience a tad more latency when foraging, interacting with places, or mixing. This is being handled by our development team at the moment with the goal of having the least amount of load time as possible. However, we are a worldwide game, so some load time is to be expected from time to time.

The new Wishing Well item and game mechanic was added to WallaBee on Wednesday, with just over 200k items used for wishes within the first 24 hours. Thank you for experimenting with this new portion of the game. We hope that you find it as an enjoyable alternative to recycling junk items. As of today, we have removed the ability for Player Uniques to be offered to the Wishing Well. This decision was reached after 48 hours of hard thought, wrestling with whether or not it was the right decision moving forward for the game and community. Although we cannot go back in time to alter how the first few Wells were charged, we can learn from history and move forward in the right direction. We realize that this will go over well with some players and not so well with others, but that is our decision to make regarding what we believe is best moving forward. There are other great alternatives to using Player Uniques if you’re clever enough to find them (some have been shared in the forums). We’ve made a few changes to item pricing to help accommodate this sudden change.

Today is National Donut Day in the States, so Donuts have been added to the store and all foragable places for a limited time.

We’re nearly at the end of The Chase. Last we saw, there was a run-in with a marching band and an attempted escape with some nearby stairs. What will happen next? Only time will tell.

We have adjusted the categorization of various Uniques from ‘Player’ to ‘WallaBee.’ These include Boots & Cats and the entire Santa Hat family of items. The ordering of these Uniques within the Market will be slightly adjusted to reflect this change, with them showing closer to the top than other Player Uniques.

This Week In WallaBee History | May 28th – June 3rd

May 28th, 2014: Loving Hut was released as a foragable Unique at select Loving Hut stores across the globe. As of V2, there have been issues with this item being available at these locations, but as of today, they can be found at every one yet again.

May 31st, 2013: We took a trip to the theater and grabbed a Programme as we entered the establishment. Shhh… The set is about to begin.

June 1st, 2016: First Degree Burn released as the first item in SUPER YOTE. We’re working on something for you at the moment, Yote. Just you wait.

June 3rd, 2012: The first four Uniques were released: Wallamu Arena, Unicorn, Killer Whale, and WallaBee. All but one of these have been made available for all players to collect. Do you know which one it is?

Weekly Buzz – 05/25/18

Hello Collectors,

Happy Towel Day! Have you seen QueenofDNile‘s new Player Unique? If not, you should check it out. You’ll never know when you may need it.

Behind the Curtain

Do you hear Yanny? Laurel? Either way, you’re sure to love a new WallaBee Unique that was released this week. This should end the debate for good.

Last week, we asked for name suggestions for the new Gardening set. The votes and in and the set is live. Thanks to everyone who contributed such great names. We loved many of them, but can only have one winner. Congratulations Cali49 on coming up with the winning title: Weed ‘Em And Reap! You will be receiving 5 shiny Mystery Boxes for your efforts.

Information about the Wishing Well was released this week to some much needed positive feedback. We believe this will be a great opportunity for the game to progress forward and look forward to releasing this new feature for everyone to enjoy. The Wishing Well will be found in Weed ‘Em And Reap as a normal item. If you have questions about the Wishing Well, you can read more here.

Benson is on the move again this weekend! Check Benson #181 and higher to see where he is! Follow this link and hit ‘next’ to find out quickly!

The social competition on our Facebook page ended this week! We’d like to share another congratulations with Verit4s for his suggestion of Mixerpool Maintenance Crew. The team cannot wait to get started on this set. We’ll be sure to post updates as we document the process of the Mixerpool and those who work diligently to keep it running.

Oh yeah… we forgot to highlight some artwork from Andy. He says ‘hi,’ by the way.

This Week In WallaBee History | May 21st – May 27th

May 24th, 2012: Life’s a Beach ended with the Seaside Hotel. Who could go for a stay in that hotel? I know I sure could…

May 22nd, 2013: A Whole New World was found, closing the chapter on Arabian Nights. What? No… we don’t see the resemblance at all, sorry.

May 24th, 2013: Pok… Pouch Creatures were released into WallaBee through a very interesting manner… Dr Miu Chudoku gifted users their first Pouch Creature. The next day, the Gems were found, allowing players to evolve the PC they were gifted the previous day. However, players could only forage Gems of opposite typing from the PC they received. For example, if you received Muru (Earth), you would only find Fire and Water Gems. Trading with other players was crucial if you wanted to evolve your creature. Although a clever mechanic, it lead to much frustration for those involved.

May 22nd, 2014: Recluse was released, kicking off the first comic set: Introducing… The Forager. Little did this recluse know that he would be getting kicked in a future item. Get it? Ah.. The next day, the first item in Tiki Tourist was released. Two sets in two days. Crazy.

May 26th, 2015: Ice Scream released its first item. What ever happened to that Chocolate Ice Cream we were promised?

Weekly Buzz – 05/18/18

Hello Collectors,

Did you miss us last week? We were working hard to bring better releases to you. Luckily, we should be returning to your normally scheduled programming soon! Enjoy!

Behind the Curtain

Our efforts to create a smoother drop continues. We have seen much improvement with this with the last 2 item releases, but we’re not done yet. We appreciate the help and feedback about both good and bad experiences within the app during a drop. Keep those coming to support@wallabeegame.com.

Last week, we gave the community an Artwork Survey to gauge thoughts about the current style of items within WallaBee. So far, the feedback has been thought provoking and insightful for how we can continue to grow WallaBee moving forward. We know that the user experience is very important, which is why we want to hear from our players. We love you all!

The Mixerpool was topped off again on Monday with many low numbered items thrown in. If you’re still in the mixing mood, we’re working out a fun new way to get Bronze and Silver Mixers. Stay tuned for details later on.

A social competition has begun on our Facebook page! If you have an idea for an awesome new set, submit it as a comment on that post for your chance to see it come to life, see your username in the item artwork, and win some great in-game prizes. Don’t forget to vote for other ideas you’d like to see. The idea with the most likes (reactions) will win! Good luck!

Speaking of competitions, here’s another opportunity to share in WallaBee history. We have a new set coming out soon that needs some tender loving care… and a title! Our favorite submission through the forums will win a snazzy new Mystery Box… or two… or five. Don’t be afraid to get down and dirty with the puns – we dig ’em!

This Week In WallaBee History | May 14th – May 20th

May 14th, 2014: The first Bronze Coin was created by Targeteer2k. He also created the #1 Silver Coin the next day. Way to go!

May 16th, 2017: The Camping Multitool was released with some -cough- issues. Those who had to deal with that release had their recently acquired multitool replaced by a Broken Multitool. What’s so broken about this tool, you might ask? Well, it’s upside down for starters.

May 17th, 2016: Many, many flower arrangements released on this day: The Royal, Happy Celebration, Spring Delight, Vibrant Seduction, The Very Lovely Special Garden, and Unparalleled Wonder.

May 18th, 2017: The actual Camping Multitool was released. This one is right-side up. Yay!

Weekly Buzz – 05/04/18

Hello Collectors,

A long time ago, in a Wallaverse far, far away… May the Fourth Be With You! We hope you have a great Friday (or Saturday) and an even better weekend. Who won the coffee vs tea debate? I’m not sure we’ll ever truly know.

Behind the Curtain

We have implemented our new way of creating items for future drop times. This change was made for the Informing The Cops item, to which we didn’t hear any negative feedback about how smoothly that went. Win in our column! Based on this successful test, we’re going to be moving forward with this new method and would appreciate feedback from those involved with the drop, between items #1 and #1000. Thanks for helping!

Development continues on 2.2.5, but most of our growth this week has been on building up the backend of our code. We’ve made improvements on various API calls, to hopefully speed up the app’s response time.

The Chase continues as Lolly smashes her way onto the set. What comes next in this extremely quiet film? You’ll find out soon after this brief intermission.

Tons of rare items are still sitting in the Mixerpool, just waiting to come out! If you need to check and see what’s still in there, our recommendation is to utilize ItemBrowser.

Our 2.0 anniversary sale is still happening at the online store. Remember, the sale ends on Monday!

With more and more Player Uniques coming out, we want to spend a respectable amount of time learning more about them. Our Player Unique Spotlight this week highlighted Indigo. You can read more about this unique here.

This Week In WallaBee History | April 30th – May 6th

May4th, 2012: Postcard released as the first item in Life’s a Beach, the first ocean inspired set of many more to come.

May 2nd, 2015: The last two items in Great American Road Trip released, (Hawaii and District of Columbia) forcing players to get creative and figure out which item Hawaii mixed with in order to finish the set. Since President Obama was in the White House during that time, and had previously been the Illinois Senate, one needed to mix Illinois with Hawaii (his alleged birth place) in order to gain the final item. The problem with this was Illinois was release a month prior in this 51 item set, so it didn’t show up very often. Fun times.

May 4th, 2015: Rosette released, with its many variants, as the first item in General Election 2015. As a fellow player at the time, I was sure that these would be used for some devious mix, where a certain variant would mix with a future item to produce the winner of the election. Needless to say, that never happened… but they are very pretty!

May 5th, 2016: I may have added another Pouch Creature to the set, frustrating many players. Sorry about that.

May 6th, 2017: We released the Munzeeman Comic to celebrate Free Comic Book Day. It would be nice to see more from this masked hero.

Weekly Buzz – 04/28/18

Hello Collectors,

It’s been a fun week so far! Let’s keep the ball rolling onto next week!

Behind the Curtain

We have made our first steps toward fixing the ‘spinning wheel of death’ that appears during the release of a new item. This process hasn’t been completely installed yet, as we realize that the changes we have made are negatively impacting normal play. As we work through optimizing various API calls, we will continue issuing items. No need to email us about experiencing slowness during a drop, as that’s to be expected at the moment. We hope to begin testing item releases using the new way of creating items sometime next week. Until then, have a great weekend, and best of luck during the next few drops. If you missed the last blog post about this, you can read up on it here.

Development continues on 2.2.5, with some bug fixes and the beginnings to promises made long, long ago. There hasn’t been much development on this feature yet, but it can be traced back to October 2013 as the date of origin. More to think on here for you all, but we’re excited to see this coming together.

On a personal note, Kelsey and I would like to sincerely thank everyone who helped us announce the sex of our soon-to-be daughter! How many people can say they’ve done a gender reveal through an online game? To my knowledge, not many. We appreciate all the kind words from the community. I will respond to messages soon. It’s been very hectic, as one might think. To clear any confusion with the announcement, she has not been born yet – her due date is in September.

    • Under investigation. At the moment, there is a chance that the previous item image will linger, even though the item has updated to the next one in line (viewable by the honeycomb price and set icon).
  • Store purchases hang up for a long time
    • Under investigation. We’re so sorry for those effected by this issue… which should be everyone during a drop. Other times, it runs like a champ.
