Collections & Uniques Update

Hello Collectors,

Over the past few years, we have added many new items into WallaBee, both in general Sets and Uniques. As we continue to grow the quantity of items players can collect, we need some better organization. We attempted to do this with the last app update, by splitting Player Uniques from WallaBee Uniques within the Uniques window. This was a good first attempt at reorganization, but is unfortunately still lacking what we’d like to see. With recent confusion over Player Uniques and WallaBee Uniques, we feel that a definitive split is necessary within the Uniques umbrella for peace of mind moving forward. Other items like Grab Bags, WallaBoo! Uniques, and ‘player sets’ don’t fit well under a general ‘Unique’ umbrella. The team has been discussing some various improvements for better organization and speed (both frontend and backend) and believe we have a solid plan to implement this.

The app portion of this update will take some time to implement, so there’s no worry about getting sideswiped by this better reorganization in the near future. However, we believe we can begin rolling out some of these changes on ItemBrowser within the next week or so (Artwork used on ItemBrowser are placeholders). This early adaptation will hopefully allow everyone time to get used to some new terminology that will be used within the game.

Collections

To better help explain what WallaBee is all about, all items will be categorized under this new heading, grouped accordingly by the following.

Sets

  • Notes:
    • Sets are Themed Collections of items that can be collected and completed for a reward.
    • These items are produced by WallaBee as open edition items, available for all players to collect.
    • Current examples of this are anything under the ‘Sets’ portion of the app (circular icon).
  • Future Organization (running titles):
    • Generation 1: The Early Sets
      • First 50 sets in the game: A Trip to the Circus – Bank Heist.
    • Generation 2: Beware the Jabberwocky
      • Next 50 sets: Andrew Cameron’s Alice – Behind The Scenes.
    • Generation 3: The Rise of Munzee Man
      • Next 50 sets: A Day in Singapore – WallaBee Fitness And Wellbeing.
    • Generation 4: Make a Wish in the Wishing Well
      • Next 50 sets: Freshly Squeezed – current.

Collectibles

  • Notes:
    • Collectibles are special items that can be collected, but cannot be completed.
    • These items are produced by either WallaBee, Players, or sponsored businesses and brands.
    • Collectibles won’t show missing item silhouettes.
    • Current examples of this are Uniques, Branded Items, Wallagraphic Items.

Future Organization:

  • Exclusives
    • Formerly known as WallaBee Uniques, these items are issued by WallaBee that may extend the theming of a set (Pie-Eyed Andy) or stand alone (Red Herring).
    • These items are available specifically through gameplay.
    • New Icon.
  • Themed Exclusives
    • Same as above, but categorized into a theme (i.e. Santa Hats, Grab Bags, Mystery Boxes, etc.).
    • Branded Items will become a Themed Exclusive set.
    • New Icon.
  • Uniques
    • Formerly a combination of all Uniques, these will only include Player Distributed items (i.e. KivaBee, A Little Gift, Rainbow Bridge, etc.).
    • New Star icon to help with Themed Uniques.
    • New Icon.
  • Themed Uniques
    • Same as above, but categorized into player-decided themes (i.e. Texas Music Legends, WallaBoo, Event Items, etc.) based on owner’s request (setup process TBD).
    • Same new Star icon as above, with an icon inside showing a theme (similar to current set icons). Each themed set will have the following icon with a banner highlighting the name of the series.
    • New Icon. Texas Music Legends.
  • Wallagraphics
    • These are rare cards found within Grab Bags. No change in organization.
    • New Icon.
  • Branded Items
    • These are sponsored item.
    • These may be absorbed by Themed Exclusives in the future.

We believe change will also allow us to better implement the ability for players to save variants in a way that makes sense. We are really looking forward to this proposed project and hope you will support this decision for better organization and growth.

*Everything listed above is subject to change. Adjustments may happen based on feedback and/or development needs. Updates will be made when available should changes occur.

Forums – Back Online Soon

Hello Collectors,

Over the weekend, we reduced the number of available forums down to just “Item Directory,” as most of you are aware. We have since been cleaning up the forums on the backend for the benefit of the community. Our goal is to keep useful forums in the game and remove inadequate ones. The forums will be back online soonish with a revitalized “Official Business” forum. Once online, please read through the two posts within this new forum, as your participation in the forums relies on knowing the rules.

The remaining forums include:

  • Official Business
  • NewBees Hive
  • Item Directory
  • The Trading Post
  • Auction House
  • Party Room

Please keep all conversations within these forums on topic. Deviating comments and posts will be removed.

WallaBee Chat, General Chat, and House forums have been removed for the present time. We have no timetable available for if and when these forums will come back. Many external sites are currently used for chatting about the game, including Facebook and GroupMe. One Facebook group that we recommend checking out is WallaBee Nation. The House forums were originally hidden until a player was sorted, but these forums have been visible for everyone to see for 1.5 years. Unfortunately, this is an aspect that has been ‘broken,’ so it will remain removed until it can be hidden like before.

October Gameplay Updates

Hello Collectors,

Let’s begin by addressing the elephant in the room: The Weekly Buzz. We have decided to put a brief pause on this series until we have more exciting things to share with the community on a weekly basis. Instead, you can look forward to more ‘announcement’ type posts when gameplay changes happen. Unique Spotlight posts will continue as normal until there are no more stories to share, at which point we will transition into a new series to showcase artwork and behind-the-scenes happenings… which leads us to the topic of today’s announcement.

Shiny Mixers were first introduced into WallaBee on April 21st, 2016, as a fundraiser-type item to help raise money for new developers. Well, it was a success, and we finished building V2 of WallaBee. Shiny Mixers were removed and added back into the store many times, for special events, allowing players to stock up within a controlled timeframe. Since then, Golden Mixers were given a recipe for creating outside of these special time periods, by mixing certain golden items together. This has been one of many fun ways for collectors to pass the time between drops (and earn some extra ‘comb)! Unfortunately, the trends in Golden Mixers Market prices have done more harm to the game’s economy than good. With that being said, we believe that making an adjustment to the recipe is necessary to reinstate the rareness and power that Golden Mixers have. We will be removing the recipes for Midas Touch items to create Golden Mixers on November 1st, 2pm UTC. For the time being, Shiny Mixers will only be available as possible rewards from fully charged Wishing Wells.

Various Sets have been updated to have more consistent cost to complete, based on the size of the set. We have begun this process with sets originally released more than 3 years ago, and plan to begin spreading it to newer sets soon. Why make this change? Sets used to have a very wide (and random) cost to complete… with some sets costing over 50k to complete. This makes it difficult to plan ahead and ensure you’ve gathered enough honeycombs to last the whole set. Since the number of items needed to complete a set varies from two to fifty-one (Eau de WallaBee and One Set To Rule Them All), we’ve broken this new pricing into four simple categories.

  • 1 – 10 items in set: 5,000hc to complete with a reward of 250hc.
  • 11 – 20 items in set: 12,500hc to complete with a reward of 875hc.
  • 21 – 30 items in set: 17,500hc to complete with an reward of 1,400hc.
  • 30+ items in set: 25,000hc to complete with a reward of 2,500hc.

There are a few sets that will unfortunately break this model (Crazy Chicks’ Easter Hen), but we will do our best to keep it fair with a higher reward for those anomalies. Some items within a set are found through foraging, but will still be given a value toward completing the set… which means you may save some honeycombs on the cost of completing a set. We believe these changes will help all of our collectors keep buzzing towards completing sets.

Grab Bags had unintentionally seen a hiatus from being released, but are back with new Walllagraphics to collect. Previously released Grab Bags will see an adjustment in pricing very soon to reflect the update to set completion pricing. We hope that the updated costs will help collectors enjoy these special items even more. Adjustments to where these can be foraged will also take place soon.

Mega Mixes have been in the game for a long time, some having crazy recipes to create! However, Mega Mixes with multiple of the same type of item were adjusted with V2 to accommodate the backend changes. The recipe to create a Solved Puzzle Cube with 26 Unbranded Puzzle Cubes is one of the Mega Mixes that was previously adjusted, but no more! Due to a recent discovery by Dr Miu Chudoku, some older Mega Mix recipes have been added back into the game! Check out the new (old) recipes for Solved Puzzle Cube, Bottle Rocket, and 100c Coin. Now that items can be created using multiple of the same type, keep your eyes and pouches peeled…

Item Locks have been used to protect unsaved items for years… but this is one annoying currency that can’t be traded. Mystery Boxes and Christmas Mixers have helped players get locks without paying real money, but even these fall short due to their random nature. In the next few months, we aim on adding a way for locks to be easily transferred between players. Details on the specifics will be shared at a later date. For now, enjoy a small sale on Item Locks this weekend.

Job Lot + Junk = ?!

Hello Collectors,

In the wake of the Wishing Well’s release, we’ve been considering additional gameplay options for the remaining ‘junk’ items in the game under #10,000. To make a somewhat longer story short, we’ve added the ability for Job Lot to re-roll any item over #2,000.

So what exactly happens? When an item over #2,000 is mixed with the Job Lot, it creates another new item. This item may be one over #10,000 which can be used as fuel for the Wishing Well, or it may be another item that you can reuse with another Job Lot. Think of this like mixing two WallaBee Mixers, without the possibility of it pulling an item from the pool.

So why did we do this? Well, it simply just adds another option for junk items. We didn’t want to lower the #10,000 limi of Wishing Wells, and didn’t want to introduce a new item that causes FOMO mayhem… so Job Lot it was. Who knows what’s in the box! You could find pretty much any WallaBee issued item from this, including items that will help fuel your Well.

Job Lot is an item that already exists in The Auction House set. This item can be foraged at Shopping locations and is available in the market for an instant purchase at 100hc. This item will mix with any #2,000 and above item (except Perfume, Aftershave, another Job Lot, or the Wishing Well). The feature is already live in the game, so have fun!

Wishing Well at the Wishing Well

Hello Collectors,

We are excited to highlight a new game mechanic coming soon to WallaBee. Although this new feature is fairly straight forward, there are some important details to highlight before we release it to the community. The following information should educate players on how everything works. Our goal is understanding.

The purpose of this new feature is to aid players in finding worth in ‘junk’ items. Items over a certain number are often viewed as invaluable by most collectors. They can be found discarded across the map, either dropped or recycled (mostly in Bangkok, for some reason…). Although they can be helpful in certain mixes and earning the Recycler line of achievements, most items over a certain number end up collecting dust. Since WallaBee strives to be a game of options, we’d like to offer yet another alternative to dropping or recycling those pesky ‘junk’ items you get while foraging – The Wish Well.

The Wishing Well

WallaVille has seen its fair share of magical, curious things over the years (many of them rumored). One such example is that once every 7 years, a mysterious wishing well appears within the garden of a lucky gardener. Whether true or not, the hope that accompanies this tales brings much beauty to the town. Gardens are kept tidy and growing in hopes of receiving a visit from the elusive wishing well. As the fable states, the well grants favorable items to those who drop enough unfavorable items inside. With such a wishing well, recycling would be a thing of the past for some… And so, the community kept hoping, waiting for a glimpse of the wishing well to bless their lives once again.

  • The Wishing Well will mix with any item over #10,000.
    • Once mixed, the Wishing Well remains in your pouch and gains a wish (credit), with the other item destroyed.
    • A Wishing Well will not mix with another Wishing Well, regardless of the number.
    • EDIT: The Wishing Well will no longer work with Uniques. However, Exclusives will still be available for use.
  • Once a Wishing Well has 50 wishes, it can be Redeemed through the context menu.
    • Redeemed Wishing Wells disappear and leave you a reward (like Grab Bags).
    • Having more than 50 wishes does not increase your reward/odds of receiving a particular reward.
    • There are various types of rewards, including a mixture of old and new items.
  • New types of items found within Wishing Wells: Miniest Mystery Boxes (x3) and Mystery Bag.
    • Miniest Mystery Box
      • Three new types: Bronze (BZ), Silver (SL), and Gold (GD).
      • Can be upgraded to Minier and Mini sizes through mixing two of the same item.
        • I.E. Miniest (GD) + Miniest (GD) = Minier (GD)
      • Opened Miniest/Minier/Mini Mystery Boxes disappear and leave you with a reward.
        • Rewards differ by type and increase as the box size increases.
    • Mystery Bag
      • Behaves like a normal Grab Bag, but only contains already released Wallagraphic items.
      • Opened Mystery Bags disappear and leave you a Wallagraphic item.

UPDATED:

Here’s a quick image to help clarify the probability of rewards received. Both items in each tier have the same chance of being selected.

That’s it! We hope that you enjoy taking advantage of this new feature.

WallaBee Artwork Survey

Hello Collectors,

We at WallaBee love hearing from our community. It helps us see where we’ve succeeded and failed in the past, what we’re doing right and wrong in the present, and where we can grow to in the future. Although there are topics everyone would love to share with us at the moment about what’s currently wrong with the app in the present, that is a long bump in the road that we hope to overcome ASAP. However, we cannot let a present issue hinder us from moving forward and making WallaBee the best that we can in the future. So, while the development team is working hard to make sure the present is taken care of, we can plan another aspect of future growth right now: Artwork.

Since we typically make changes to the app based on suggestions that align with our vision, we would love to hear from you regarding our artwork!
If you have a few minutes, please consider filling out this simple survey. We would really appreciate it. https://goo.gl/forms/ylYTUMKzVicBWDsy2

Thank you for your continued support.

WallaBee 2.0 Anniversary & Sale (NOW ENDED)

Hello Collectors!

Today marks the one year anniversary of bringing WallaBee to Android players for the first time in version 2.0. It’s been a fun year so far, but this is just the beginning! We have many great things in store for the game and can’t wait for them to come to fruition. We look at this day humbly, recognizing that the community is what has kept this game growing and moving forward, throughout the trials we’ve faced during the past year(s). So, to help celebrate this day with the community, we’re topping up the Mixerpool and adding holiday items to the market as ‘buy it now.’ This is a great opportunity to gather up any items you missed during the last few holiday seasons. We’ll also be adding a new type of gift very soon, so keep your eyes peeled for that!

But wait, that’s not all! We’re also hosting a 20% off sale in the online store on select items. This sale has already begun and will continue through Monday, 05/07/18 at 9:30am WHQ (14:30 UTC).
