3.1 Release Notes

Hello Collectors!

WallaBee’s update with Prestige Items and Saving Variants is now rolling out on iOS and Android! Here are some quick notes to read through while you wait for the update to reach your app store of choice.

Prestige Items

With over 26 million items floating around the world of WallaBee, there’s always plenty of items to collect. While you may have already completed all of your sets, you may be struggling with what to do next. Prestige Items offer a great way to continue hunting down the items you know and love, for a whole new experience!

Creating Prestige Items

There are two different ways to create Prestige Items. Collectibles (Wallagraphics, Exclusives, Uniques) cannot be made into Prestige Items.

  1. Use Royal Jellies (RJ) by selecting the Prestige button while looking at an item.
  2. Mix the new Prestige-O-Matic item with the item you want to prestige.
    • The Prestige-O-Matic can also be used to turn a Prestige Item into a normal item. This will remove all levels earned with your Prestige Item!

Leveling System

  • Mix normal copies of the same item with your Prestige Item to build up its level.
    • Edit: Copies need to be over #5,000 to build up a Prestige Item.
  • Levels begin at 1 and climb to 100, with 5 total tiers of rarity along the way.
  • Each rarity tier has a different requirement of required copies mixed before a new level is achieved.
  • Prestige Levels can be swapped between two Prestige Items of the same type by mixing them together.

Prestige Sets

If each item within a given set is a Prestige Item, the set will gain a bejeweled frame indicating the lowest common rarity tier achieved.

Saving Variants

  • Collections can now hold multiple of the same item type by saving a variant you don’t already have in your collection.
  • When two or more variants are saved in your set, you can highlight which shows within your set by ensuring the eye icon is toggled on from the Item View.
  • Attempting to save a variant you already have saved will prompt a swap option.
  • Exceptions to saving all variant types include, but may not be limited to: Butterflies.

Other Notable Adjustments

Maintenance Mode

WallaBee sometimes has issues or updates that require the game to stop running like normal. We have now added a Maintenance Mode that will not allow you access to the game and give you a helpful reason as to why.

Item History

Visual changes have been made to the Item History view. An item’s history will now slide up to view instead of taking another full page. This was intended to release with 3.0, but missed the deadline. You can slide this screen down or tap out of it to view the item again.

App Of The Day Spotlight and Updates

Hello Collectors,

Happy New Year! We hope you had a restful end of 2020 and a great start to 2021! The WallaBee team is bzzzzzy as can bee, ready for this next app update to come out soon! Here’s a quick update on what’s going on in the hive.

App Of The Day Spotlight

Our friends over at App Of The Day reached out to us about featuring WallaBee as a mobile game they’re excited about. We really appreciate what they had to write about the game and recommend you take some time to go check them out. Who knows, maybe you’ll find another app you love on their site!

The interview that Robbie had with them can be found here.

Version 3.1

Our Fall update is turning into a Winter update, with a tentative release after a quick QoL improvement is made. Our goal is to have it ready this month, but as with all things, those plans can change. Regardless, we are really excited about getting this Variant-Saving and Prestige Items update out to the community and want to make sure it’s done right. Here are some teaser images from the next update. Expanded information on these features will be available at release.

You can find previous updates about 3.1 here.

Birthday Cakes Announcement

Hello Collectors!

On August 1st, we bid farewell to Hksfarm (Daniel Hammock), as his life is pulling him in a different direction. We wish him the best with his ventures and send him off with our love. With that change happening just over 2 weeks ago, we have been figuring out your main concern surrounding Daniel leaving: Birthday Cakes. What’s going to happen with them? Who will take over distribution? Will it just stop? The answer to all of these questions will be answered below.

Daniel has graciously handed over control of the cakes to our staff as a whole, so we will be moving forward with the distribution process. Our team has been thinking long and hard about how the birthday cakes will be handled moving forward. Over the past few days, we have been testing a new automatic process for gifting out cakes, and now have it ready for use!

One thing to note about the birthday cakes is that it’s completely optional for players – we don’t collect birthdays in order to play. This creates a somewhat difficult challenge for us to navigate, but we think we have a good plan in place to deal with this. We will continue to use the birthday cake form to collect new birthdays but won’t need it for those who have previously filled it out.

Birthday Cakes will be distributed automatically in the following order: (Cherry, Vanilla, Chocolate, Key Lime, Red Velvet, Ice Cream, Freeze Tag, Unicorn). If you have received any of these out of order, your next cake will be backfilled with any missing cakes.* Gifted cakes are distributed based on previous cakes gifted to you, which allows us to verify that you earned the cake and did not receive it through a trade.**

With these changes, Birthday Cakes from deleted/timed-out accounts will be added to the Mixerpool on occasion, giving players the ability to lower their numbers without interfering with the gifting order of cakes.

That’s all the information we have on this at the moment! We have consolidated the main bullet points below for ease of reference.

  • Birthday Cakes will be automatically given based on optional signup through the birthday cake form.
  • Birthday Cakes have a new solidified order for distribution.
    • Cherry, Vanilla, Chocolate, Key Lime, Red Velvet, Ice Cream, Freeze Tag, Unicorn
  • Birthday Cakes from deleted/timed-out users will be added to the Mixerpool on occasion.

*I.E. If your first cake was Chocolate, your next two cakes will be Cherry and Vanilla in that order.
**I.E. If someone gave you their collection of cakes, that would not impact which cake you get next, possibly resulting in you have a duplicate from the previous trade.

Improvements to the Royal Jelly Store

Hello Collectors!

We have made some recent improvements to the Royal Jelly Store that allow us to keep things fresh. We have added a behind-the-scenes ability for us to limit the number of purchases that can be made on specific products, so we can offer certain items and bargains to our players without it being taken advantage of. However, please keep in mind that items with purchase limits will not disappear once the limit has been met. Instead, a message will appear informing the player that they have met the limit. The purchase limit will be included in the product description for your convenience.

Starting now, players can enjoy the option of a virtual WallaPak in the RJ Store for 1300 RJ. This bundle is similar to the physical WallaPak we offered in 2018, but includes the following:

  • 40k Honeycombs
  • 2 Chest Keys
  • 30 Locks
  • 2 Mystery Boxes (WallaPak Variant)

We will be limiting this to one (1) per person, per month.

Also starting now, players can enjoy a helpful one-time Community Bundle of 5 Chest Keys for 1 Royal Jelly.

Box’O’Locks

Hello Collectors,

We have a new type of openable item joining the game that will grant whoever opens it 20 Item Locks. This is very similar to a Mystery Box, just without the Mystery (or the honeycombs). Our hope is that the Box’O’Locks will be used to trade Item Locks to players who may not be able to make purchases, keep Item Locks on-hand for a rainy day, or continue your collection.

This item is receiving a special blog announcement due to the unique nature of its release. This item will begin distributing at #2001, as the first two thousand items have been placed in Limbo for future Mixerpool refills, contests, giveaways, and other random acts of kindness. This item will not appear through normal gameplay (like other Exclusive Items) but will be available by purchase in the Goodies section of the Royal Jelly Store.

Date + Time

  • November 11, 2019, at 3 p.m. CST (UTC -6)

Details

  • Box’O’Locks will appear in the Goodies section of the BUY screen (Royal Jelly Store).
  • There will be three tiers of BoL available: x1, x5, and x10.
  • When opened, the Box’O’Locks breaks and gives the user 20 Item Locks.

Christmukkahwanzzali Details

Hello Collectors,

The holiday season is upon us in WallaLand. Instead of our normal December lineup, we have opted for a non-denominational set this year – Christmukkahwanzzali! Since we’re changing things up a bit, we figured we’d have some fun it…

We teased the first item in a recent social post – the Gift Tag. As you may guess, this Gift Tag will be used multiple times. However, in order to slow down the releases for this set (and not have a smaller version of Christmas Crisis) we will be delaying some of the available mixes. We know that this isn’t everyone’s first choice in releases, but it will be crucial for this set to be a success. After the Gift Tag releases, the rest of the set will begin to make sense.

Hopefully this quick note helps with some upfront confusion or frustration. Just because a mix doesn’t work right away, doesn’t mean it won’t work later.

Other Holiday Details

  • Festive Friends will return soon.
  • Holiday Mystery Boxes will be available from Mixers beginning December 20th, 18:00 UTC and ending January 2nd, 18:00 UTC.
  • Christmas Mixers are available from Mixers and will appear in Festive Friends.

Gone Fishing

Hello Collectors,

What’s orange, metal, and highly addictive? That’s right, WallaBee Mixers! What would make the Mixerpool even more fun? Better items when the pool is empty! Today’s update brings you a quick look at some new features we’re adding to the Mixerpool.

Mixers

Here is a brief overview and refresher on how mixers work, including shiny mixer percentages. When players mix two Mixers, they either get an older item from ‘the pool’ or they generate the next numbered item for any Set Item in the game. The chance that a player will receive a ‘pool item’ depends on the Mixers used.

When a New Item is triggered, there are 2,000+ items you can receive. With so many items possible, we thought it would be nice to direct certain items to you more often. There is now a 30% chance that an item from a specific list will be received when creating a New Item. We have been testing this over the past week with Unicorn Poop, Wishing Well, Christmas Mixer, Ship-in-a-bottle Beagle, and WallaSpud. If you’ve noticed these coming out of Mixers recently, you now know why. Along with other items you may not see regularly, you will begin seeing more drops occurring through mixing Mixers… including some very special fish!

Fish

We are adding a new series of WallaBee Uniques (soon to be Themed Exclusives) which will be found within Wishing Wells and Mixers. Did you know that Smelt can be found in both freshwater and saltwater? They’re sometimes referred to Forage Fish, which makes them perfect for WallaBee! Try mixing two Smelt together to see which path it chooses!

When the Uniques split happens, these fish will appear within their own subset, but will remain within the Uniques set until then.
