WallaPak 2019

Hello Collectors,

Some of you may have noticed that WallaPak is no longer available in the online store. This is because we have decided to discontinue the physical production of monthly stickers, as we’ve already used most of the Calendar Items for each month. We may add a Virtual WallaPak in the future for those who preferred the virtual products, but there is no final word about this decision as of right now. Physical stickers for your passports will still be made available at different times throughout the year, just not on a monthly basis. With WallaBee’s 7th birthday right around the corner, you never know what’s in store!

There are a few of you “lucky” players that were charged for January’s WallaPak before the final switch was thrown, shutting it down for the year. Congratulations! You now have some fairly rare stickers. Five sets of Tuli Pouch Creature stickers were sent, along with some randomized Great American Road Trip stickers.

Now that all of December’s stickers have been shipped, we will be updating the product for 2018 month stickers to include all available months for anyone who missed or wants extras, while supplies last.

January Build-A-Unique

Hello Collectors!

Happy 2019 to all of you! A new year brings new opportunities, which includes the subject matter of this post. 2018 had a completely full Unique Commission queue, so the ability for newer players to get their hands on their own Unique Items was not possible. We tested the idea of a “Create-Your-Own” personalized Unique with WallaBoo! in October, followed by Señior(ita) Sweet Potato in November, to see if we could increase the availability of Uniques, lower the price down, and still make an interesting product. To our delight, you have responded with great feedback to these special opportunities. As we continue to make custom Uniques for players in 2019, you can count on seeing six Build-A-Uniques releasing throughout the year. The first opportunity of 2019 is January’s Sand-Mud-Snow People.

Date + Time

  • Jan. 15, 2019, at 1 p.m. CST (UTC -6) to Jan. 31, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. CST (UTC -6)

Details

  • BAU Item: Sand-Mud-Snow People
  • Available from the online store for $50
  • No limit per user
  • New submission tool to create live previews of your BAU (courtesy of Mizak and ItemBrowser)

Christmukkahwanzzali Details

Hello Collectors,

The holiday season is upon us in WallaLand. Instead of our normal December lineup, we have opted for a non-denominational set this year – Christmukkahwanzzali! Since we’re changing things up a bit, we figured we’d have some fun it…

We teased the first item in a recent social post – the Gift Tag. As you may guess, this Gift Tag will be used multiple times. However, in order to slow down the releases for this set (and not have a smaller version of Christmas Crisis) we will be delaying some of the available mixes. We know that this isn’t everyone’s first choice in releases, but it will be crucial for this set to be a success. After the Gift Tag releases, the rest of the set will begin to make sense.

Hopefully this quick note helps with some upfront confusion or frustration. Just because a mix doesn’t work right away, doesn’t mean it won’t work later.

Other Holiday Details

  • Festive Friends will return soon.
  • Holiday Mystery Boxes will be available from Mixers beginning December 20th, 18:00 UTC and ending January 2nd, 18:00 UTC.
  • Christmas Mixers are available from Mixers and will appear in Festive Friends.

Gone Fishing

Hello Collectors,

What’s orange, metal, and highly addictive? That’s right, WallaBee Mixers! What would make the Mixerpool even more fun? Better items when the pool is empty! Today’s update brings you a quick look at some new features we’re adding to the Mixerpool.

Mixers

Here’s a brief overview and refresher on how mixers work. When players mix two Mixers, they either get an older item from ‘the pool’ or they generate the next numbered item for any Set Item in the game. The chance that a player will receive a ‘pool item’ depends on the Mixers used.

When a New Item is triggered, there are 2,000+ items you can receive. With so many items possible, we thought it would be nice to direct certain items to you more often. There is now a 30% chance that an item from a specific list will be received when creating a New Item. We have been testing this over the past week with Unicorn Poop, Wishing Well, Christmas Mixer, Ship-in-a-bottle Beagle, and WallaSpud. If you’ve noticed these coming out of Mixers recently, you now know why. Along with other items you may not see regularly, you will begin seeing more drops occurring through mixing Mixers… including some very special fish!

Fish

We are adding a new series of WallaBee Uniques (soon to be Themed Exclusives) which will be found within Wishing Wells and Mixers. Did you know that Smelt can be found in both freshwater and saltwater? They’re sometimes referred to Forage Fish, which makes them perfect for WallaBee! Try mixing two Smelt together to see which path it chooses!

When the Uniques split happens, these fish will appear within their own subset, but will remain within the Uniques set until then.

Collections & Uniques Update

Hello Collectors,

Over the past few years, we have added many new items into WallaBee, both in general Sets and Uniques. As we continue to grow the quantity of items players can collect, we need some better organization. We attempted to do this with the last app update, by splitting Player Uniques from WallaBee Uniques within the Uniques window. This was a good first attempt at reorganization, but is unfortunately still lacking what we’d like to see. With recent confusion over Player Uniques and WallaBee Uniques, we feel that a definitive split is necessary within the Uniques umbrella for peace of mind moving forward. Other items like Grab Bags, WallaBoo! Uniques, and ‘player sets’ don’t fit well under a general ‘Unique’ umbrella. The team has been discussing some various improvements for better organization and speed (both frontend and backend) and believe we have a solid plan to implement this.

The app portion of this update will take some time to implement, so there’s no worry about getting sideswiped by this better reorganization in the near future. However, we believe we can begin rolling out some of these changes on ItemBrowser within the next week or so (Artwork used on ItemBrowser are placeholders). This early adaptation will hopefully allow everyone time to get used to some new terminology that will be used within the game.

Collections

To better help explain what WallaBee is all about, all items will be categorized under this new heading, grouped accordingly by the following.

Sets

  • Notes:
    • Sets are Themed Collections of items that can be collected and completed for a reward.
    • These items are produced by WallaBee as open edition items, available for all players to collect.
    • Current examples of this are anything under the ‘Sets’ portion of the app (circular icon).
  • Future Organization (running titles):
    • Generation 1: The Early Sets
      • First 50 sets in the game: A Trip to the Circus – Bank Heist.
    • Generation 2: Beware the Jabberwocky
      • Next 50 sets: Andrew Cameron’s Alice – Behind The Scenes.
    • Generation 3: The Rise of Munzee Man
      • Next 50 sets: A Day in Singapore – WallaBee Fitness And Wellbeing.
    • Generation 4: Make a Wish in the Wishing Well
      • Next 50 sets: Freshly Squeezed – current.

Collectibles

  • Notes:
    • Collectibles are special items that can be collected, but cannot be completed.
    • These items are produced by either WallaBee, Players, or sponsored businesses and brands.
    • Collectibles won’t show missing item silhouettes.
    • Current examples of this are Uniques, Branded Items, Wallagraphic Items.
  • Future Organization:
    • Exclusives
      • Formerly known as WallaBee Uniques, these items are issued by WallaBee that may extend the theming of a set (Pie-Eyed Andy) or stand alone (Red Herring).
      • These items are available specifically through gameplay.
      • New Icon (TBD).
    • Themed Exclusives
      • Same as above, but categorized into a theme (i.e. Santa Hats, Grab Bags, Mystery Boxes, etc.).
      • New Icons (TBD).
    • Uniques
      • Formerly a combination of all Uniques, these will only include Player Distributed items (i.e. KivaBee, A Little Gift, Rainbow Bridge, etc.).
      • New Star icon to help with Themed Uniques.
    • Themed Uniques
      • Same as above, but categorized into player-decided themes (i.e. Texas Music Legends, WallaBoo, Event Items, etc.) based on owner’s request (setup process TBD).
      • Same new Star icon as above, with an icon inside showing a theme (similar to current set icons).
    • Wallagraphics
      • These are rare cards found within Grab Bags. No change.
    • Branded Items
      • These are sponsored item.
      • These may be absorbed by Themed Exclusives in the future.

We believe change will also allow us to better implement the ability for players to save variants in a way that makes sense. We are really looking forward to this proposed project and hope you will support this decision for better organization and growth.

*Everything listed above is subject to change. Adjustments may happen based on feedback and/or development needs. Updates will be made when available should changes occur.

Forums – Back Online Soon

Hello Collectors,

Over the weekend, we reduced the number of available forums down to just “Item Directory,” as most of you are aware. We have since been cleaning up the forums on the backend for the benefit of the community. Our goal is to keep useful forums in the game and remove inadequate ones. The forums will be back online soonish with a revitalized “Official Business” forum. Once online, please read through the two posts within this new forum, as your participation in the forums relies on knowing the rules.

The remaining forums include:

  • Official Business
  • NewBees Hive
  • Item Directory
  • The Trading Post
  • Auction House
  • Party Room

Please keep all conversations within these forums on topic. Deviating comments and posts will be removed.

WallaBee Chat, General Chat, and House forums have been removed for the present time. We have no timetable available for if and when these forums will come back. Many external sites are currently used for chatting about the game, including Facebook and GroupMe. One Facebook group that we recommend checking out is WallaBee Nation. The House forums were originally hidden until a player was sorted, but these forums have been visible for everyone to see for 1.5 years. Unfortunately, this is an aspect that has been ‘broken,’ so it will remain removed until it can be hidden like before.

WallaBoo! 2018 Recap

Hello Collectors,

It’s been almost a week since we kicked off WallaBoo! 2018. Now it’s time to showoff some highlights of the event for everyone to enjoy. Players came in from near and far for this ghoulish event (shoutout to the Aussies)! Although the actual event on Saturday wasn’t very long, many players were here for the whole weekend to catch up with friends and have fun… including this familiar face…

Keep Austin Weird – P.C. Nicole Baldwin

Various Walla-themed activities took place throughout the weekend, including some WallaBee trivia and ‘Trick or Treat’ item search. We were very happy to see the number of players out at this event and hope that everyone enjoyed themselves. Those who participated in the activities received some mystery boxes today after their sheets had been graded, courtesy of RedCarRobbie. However, RedCarRobbie hasn’t stopped there. He has commissioned three special Player Uniques to commemorate the effort of those who went above and beyond by not only completing the activities, but getting perfect scores. He will soon be distributing his Unique to these players for a job well done, in random order.

A special shoutout to Texas Bandits for winning Andy’s raffle for a one-of-a-kind, hand-drawn image of “The Electric Professor.” The Electric Professor was originally a candidate for the Creepy Comics set, but was left for this awesome drawing instead. Congratulations again, Texas Bandits!

We finished up the weekend with a brief ‘jog’ at Celebration Park in Allen, TX. Saying goodbye is always the most difficult part of ending an enjoyable weekend, but we tried to catch as many WallaBee players as we could before they left. Here’s who remained until the very end. Thanks for staying!

P.C. Nicole Baldwin

We want to thank everyone who was able to attend the event this year! We enjoyed hosting this get-together and hope you enjoyed your time with us. As WallaBee grows, we hope that you will grow alongside us. Much love from WBHQ!
